BWTS Retrofit

Retro-fit engineering is an area of competence that SEDS has achieved by virtue of more than 100 projects over the past three years.

We have a specialized team of retro-fit engineers from all concerned engineering disciplines overseen by a dedicated management team. The projects are executed in multiple shifts. Along with quality assurance throughout the process, schedule performance is also monitored and engineering support during Client’s installation is provided. Training requirements are regularly monitored, identified and attended to as appropriate.

The vessel’s existing machinery space is scanned using a high accuracy laser scanner which gives a point cloud. This is a primary input based on which further design modeling is carried out.

The projects are normally carried out in two stages, a Basic / Concept design stage and after approval of the same, a Detail engineering stage. The major Basic design deliverables are the P&ID, the 3D model indicating the proposed retro-fit design, an MTO and a report. Documentation required for Class approval of the retro-fit design is given by SEDS. The Detail design stage gives the complete fabrication package including all piping isometrics, structural foundations, machinery, electrical and outfitting drawings. Prefabrication can be done by the shipyard to the maximum extent before vessel docking thereby enabling vessel down-time.
